Michael Baron is President of Luca Industries USA, LLC, located in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
As a designer-builder, Mr. Baron frequently traveled throughout Europe, documenting energy efficient building materials, construction tools & equipment and advanced building technologies. In 2000 he observed the prevalent use of aerated autoclaved concrete (AAC) in Germany and recognized AAC as an ideal material for sustainable architecture in the US. In 2001 he established AerBlock Enterprises, LLC to be able to design and build exclusively in AAC. During this time he set up an office/showroom and building yard and began distributing AAC block and panel materials for ACCO, E-Crete, Tru-Stone, Contec and Xella. He also imported AAC equipment from Germany, presented crew training programs, organized AAC building seminars and developed specialized construction techniques for AAC materials. Over the years he has been involved with hundreds of AAC projects throughout the Western States.
In 2010, following the devastating earthquake in Haiti, he helped organize the building of a small cellular lightweight concrete (CLC) facility in Port-au-Prince, in order to re-construct seismically safe buildings out of mortar-less, interlocking CLC block. The advantages of producing an array of CLC products locally inspired him to further explore CLC materials, mix designs and mixing equipment. Eventually the need for better calibrated batching & processing equipment, along with advanced mix designs, led him back to Germany. In meeting with Dr. Lucà & Partner Ingenieurkontor GmbH a discussion to develop LithoPore technologies for the North American market was launched.
Mr. Baron’s current objective is to further the advancement of LithoPore technologies here in the US and around the world. To achieve this aim, a collaborative working team was initiated, consisting of Jay Bonner - designer, structural engineeers and architects. Their complementary abilities evolved into the formation of the current company Luca Industries USA, LLC. Our business goal: to promote Luca Industries International manufacturing technology and the production of high quality LithoPore CLC as a global ‘legacy’ building material.
|Dr. Marcello Lucà
Dr. Marcello Lucà, owner and managing Director of Luca Industries International GmbH, located in Berlin, Germany studied economy. 2003 he took over the former company Dr. Lucà & Partner Ingenieurkontor GmbH and turned the business model from textile chemicals to construction technologies based on the 50 years of experience of his father Dr.-Ing Sebastiano Lucà, Director Research & Development.
2010 Dr. Lucà incorporated Dr. Lucà Bioengineering and Services, Pvt. Ltd. in Chennai, India.
Since 2006 he was constantly gaining experiences in transferring the LithoPore® foamed concrete technology from the Research and Development (R&D) stage into industrial applications. He is looking back on more than 200 successful installations and commissionings of various production facilities around the planet, among those 4 large automated plants.
As the head of the LithoPore® Academy he is dedicated to the quality standard´s improvement of foamed concrete globally.
